Hi pals! I’m going to be writing a series of pieces looking at what I consider to be the most interesting items we sent out from the previous week.
For this first week I’m going to talk about the Laowa 24mm Probe Lens for Canon.
This is one of the most unusual lenses on the market right now. Most macro lenses tend to fall into the Standard or Telephoto ranges, but the Laowa’s 24mm puts it squarely into wide angle territory. Wide angle macro photography allows you to capture your subject in its natural environment, giving some context to your shots.
But you’ll have no doubt noticed the unusual form factor that the Laowa 24mm Probe has – it doesn’t look like a typical lens. In fact, when I first saw the product photos it took me a moment to figure out the scale of things: this lens is over a foot long. It also includes a ring of LEDs around front element, and it’s waterproof. I’ll let Laowa’s official video show you why that matters.
As you can see from the footage above, this lens lends itself to product, food and wildlife shots.
Let us know in the comments what you would shoot with this interesting lens!
The Laowa 24mm Probe for Canon EF is available from just $71.79 for 2 days.
